After 1.5 years of trying to choose baby gear that doesn’t ‘cost the earth', with lots of research and putting stuff to the test, I can confidently recommend these cool, cost-effective, #babyfriendly, #ecofriendly and (mostly) plastic-free products….

1) Easy clean, lightweight wooden baby chair…which is the height of most dining tables, allowing your baby to eat from the table and feel more part of the family. Just like the ones in most cafes!

2)  Pura Stainless UK Steel Insulated Baby Bottle…use from birth and then change lids to sippy/sports cup as baby grows.

3)  Washable Reusable Nappies…I started with muslin and terry nappies - folded into the handy origami shape - because they’re easier to adjust to right size for new babies. Very cheap and reliable. After a few months, I switched our baby  to Bamboozle, ready to wear nappies by Tots Bots  - made in Glasgow by the way! Ace! Big money saver overall too.  It’s not like the olden days - with our handy washing machines and dryers, it’s more of a doddle. Get lots of advice on how to make the most of reusable nappies - and buy the kit - at thenappylady.co.uk.

4) BabyBjörn Travel Cot - so comfy, we have used it loads at home and for travel. Goes up/comes down in seconds, made almost entirely from steel/mesh, washable etc. Expensive buy, but it’s a long-term investment and great quality.

5) @BabyBjorn Bouncer…with exception of slip mat, it’s pretty much plastic free and again, a long term investment. Unlike other bouncers, this one is made to last years instead of months. It can be turned into a cute wee toddler seat when your little one outgrows the harness. It’s self-bouncing too - no batteries or gadgets, which helps with development and self soothing.
